Life IN Christ

life in christ picture
God tells us in the Bible that being a Christian is about living IN Christ and in relationship with others. Much of scripture including four of the Ten Commandments, tells us how we are to live in relationship with Him and the other six with others. (Matthew 22:36-40, Mark 12:28-31)

This diagram shows the order of priority in scripture for these relationships and that for Christians, Christ is at the center of all of them:

While all relationships have the same foundation of Christ's love, each level has unique challenges and characteristics. Our most important relationship is with Christ and we must be completely committed in it. If we accept the Holy Spirit IN our hearts and live IN Christ's example, we are Christians. Accepting Jesus in our hearts is a decision. Living IN Him is action.

When we are determined to be successful at a sport or a job, we develop a plan (formal or informal) to keep our eye on the goal. As Christians, we need to do the same. We tend to leave success up to chance and to weather the daily pressures of the world.

Develop a plan for yourself that is intentional in its design to enable you to live IN Christ.

36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law." 37 Jesus said to him, "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" 7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ
