CHRISTIANS "GO OUT"...INFILTRATE THE COMMUNITY

Members, But Not "Family."  Our core family and church family are members of the the community, but it is not our "family" because not all of the community believe in Jesus. Only believers are "family." Christians in the community are to love everyone, but our mission is different for other believers than for unbelievers. We are to edify, support, study God's Word together, and give special care to fellow believers.(Ephesians 4:11-16) We are to "go out" (Matt 28:18). and reach the unbeliever with the Good News of Jesus so that everyone is a member of the "family," that no one will be lost Christian ministry in the community can be done in so many different ways; preaching, literature, inviting them to church. boy tv But most effective is building a relaitonship with individuals and winning them through the love of the Holy Spirit.

Rethink "Missions."
Going to foreign countries to reach the lost is an important part of fulfilling the Great Commission. However, we tend to think of that as "missions" and those who leave home and travel far as "missionaries." We look past the mission field right in front of or eyes; our neighborhoods, our workplaces, even our families.

Think Small, Win Big.
You are a missionary today. Watch for the opportunities to use your gifts and individual persponality in your own backyard.

Be Yourself. God gave you gifts to use in ministry. Training to serve is great, but you don't need it to touch the lives of people every day.group talking Show them Jesus in you. If you are a quiet, behind-the-scenes person, being in a community play may not be for you. But maybe you could bring dinner to a neighbor whose husband is overseas. Or it might be that the local homeless person everyone ignores needs someone to notice him. If you have a heart for leading, perhaps holding a women's Bible study is your mission field. If you are an extrovert with organizational skills, maybe coaching a neighborhood team would work for you. It might be that you know a kid who needs kind words of encouragement or you could spend time with your kids sports baseball team. Invite them to our house and get to know them.

You don't have to go far and make a major life change to be serving and consequently, influencing others by showing them the love of Jesus. We win more people to Christ through being in personal relationship with them than by standing on corners giving tracts.

Ephesians 4:11-16 NIV 11 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Matthew 28:18 NIV 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37 Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
                      Matthew 22:26-40 NIV
