RECONCILING WITH GOD
Sure Mercies of David. God showed mercy on David after his great transgressions and assured us He will do the same for us if we call ourselves His children.
He is the tower of salvation to His king, and shows mercy to His anointed,to David and his descendants forevermore. 2 Samuel 22:51
All we have to do is go to Him...
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9

RESTORING YOUR RELATIONSHIPBack To Top
David gives us a model for reconciling with God:
1) Acknowledge your sin.
So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; youshall not die. 2 Samuel 12:13
Confess your sin to God and to those you have harmed.
2) Embrace the brokeness and humiliation.
David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. 17 So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them. 2 Samuel 12:16. Experiencing the fullness of your shame, contrition and the state of being broken helps you to reach for God's mercy and redeeming love. It also helps reduce (not remove) the chance of repeating that sin. The faster and fuller you feel this, the quicker the season of brokeness passes.
3) Pick yourself up.
20 So David arose from the ground, 2 Samuel 12:20.
Find strength in God's grace and choose to stand in it.
4) Wash yourself off.
...washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; 2 Samuel 12: 21..
Shake off the sin and shame. Get your thinking straight. Line it up with righteousness. Receive the forgiveness God promises you and gives when you ask with a humble, contrite heart.
5) Annoint yourself.
...washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; 2 Samuel 12:21 .
Receive the annointing of an heir of God's kingdom. Don't let others who are ;unforgiving tell you that you don't qualify as heir.
6) Get dressed.
...and changed his clothes; 2 Samuel 12:20
Put on the authority given to you by God to go forth as cleansed, renewed and ready to reach others for Jesus. Put on the armor of Christ.&
7) Worship the Lord.
...and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. 2 Samuel 12:21.
Give praise and thanks to God for His grace and mercy.
8) Be fed by God's mercy.
...Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate.
2 Samuel 12:21.
Be nourished by the grace of God and be ready to serve in His army.

2 Samuel 12:13 NKJV So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has put away your sin; you shall not die. 14 However, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also who is born to you shall surely die." 15 Then Nathan departed to his house.
12:16-17 David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. 17 So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them.
20 So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate.
Then his servants said to him, "What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food."
22 And he said, While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, "Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live"" 23 But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me." Solomon Is Born 24 Then David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in to her and lay with her. Titus 3:3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
